Regional Director, San Diego Operations.

Caston, Inc. | San Diego, California

Build something. Lead something. Make it your own.

Apply for this role

Caston, one of Southern California's established and respected union wall and ceiling contractors, is seeking an exceptional construction executive to lead our expansion into the San Diego market.

Founded in 1956, Caston has built a reputation for delivering complex, high-profile commercial and public construction projects throughout Southern California. Our capabilities include metal framing, drywall, lath and plaster, fireproofing, architectural cladding, and specialty installations.

We are looking for more than a project manager. We are looking for a proven leader with the relationships, entrepreneurial drive, and operational expertise to grow and lead our San Diego regional operations.

This is a unique opportunity to establish and grow a regional operation with the financial resources, reputation, workforce, and administrative support of an established industry leader behind you.

The Opportunity

As Regional Director of San Diego Operations, you will have responsibility for developing, managing, and growing Caston's presence throughout San Diego County.

Working directly with company ownership and executive leadership, you will help establish a dedicated regional office, develop relationships with key customers, identify and pursue profitable projects, and assemble the team necessary to support sustainable growth.

You will have significant autonomy in managing the region while benefiting from Caston's existing estimating, accounting, human resources, safety, and operational infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the growth of Caston's San Diego operations, including a potential permanent regional office.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with leading general contractors, construction managers, developers, and public agencies.
  • Identify and pursue construction opportunities consistent with Caston's capabilities and profitability objectives.
  • Oversee regional project execution, including scheduling, manpower, financial performance, quality, and customer satisfaction.
  • Collaborate with Caston's estimating department on project pursuits, bidding strategies, and contract negotiations.
  • Recruit, develop, and manage regional project managers, superintendents, and field leadership.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with union labor partners.
  • Develop annual revenue, profitability, staffing, and growth plans for the region.
  • Maintain Caston's reputation for exceptional workmanship, customer service, and integrity.

Ideal Candidate

We are seeking an experienced construction professional with:

  • 10-15+ years of progressively responsible commercial construction experience.
  • Significant experience in drywall, metal framing, plaster, fireproofing, or related specialty subcontracting.
  • Established relationships with general contractors and construction managers in the San Diego market.
  • Demonstrated success managing large, complex commercial or public works projects.
  • Strong understanding of union construction operations and California construction practices.
  • Proven financial management skills, including estimating, budgeting, forecasting, and project profitability.
  • Experience recruiting and leading project management and field operations teams.
  • An entrepreneurial mindset and a desire to build a meaningful, long-term business operation.

Previous experience as a Regional Manager, Operations Manager, Division Manager, Vice President, or senior construction executive is highly desirable.

Compensation & Benefits

Caston recognizes that attracting an exceptional leader requires a competitive compensation package.

  • Base salary from $180,000 to $240,000+, depending on qualifications and experience.
  • Performance incentives: significant annual bonus opportunity tied to regional performance and profitability.
  • Company vehicle or vehicle allowance.
  • Comprehensive health and retirement benefits.
  • Long-term career growth and executive leadership opportunities.

Why Caston?

Many construction executives reach a point where they want more than simply managing another project or department.

At Caston, you will have the opportunity to build a regional operation, develop your own team, establish lasting customer relationships, and directly influence the growth of a successful specialty subcontractor.

You will not be starting from scratch. Caston provides the financial strength, established systems, industry reputation, and operational resources necessary to compete for substantial projects from day one. Caston currently has multiple ongoing contracts in the region with numerous long-term customers.

We are looking for someone who wants to take ownership of an opportunity, build something lasting, and be rewarded for the results.

Caston, Inc. is an equal opportunity employer.
